Current Classes

Currently I am teaching two sections of BUS105 - Introduction to Technology and Applications and one section of BUS130 - Business Problem Solving.

I am also teaching BUS630 - Strategic Technology to a cohort in Rochester.

Instructional Philosophy

What is my instructional philosophy? That seems like an easy question that any good professor should be able to answer. But where do you start? The design of the course, the preparation, the delivery, the testing, the evaluation? I would like to believe that in all of these areas I am asking the question, what is going to create the best learning for the student / learner? It is from this question that I create or modify the design of the course along with all of the other areas.

I am also focused on asking the question of faith - learning integration; what does the Bible say about this topic? This is typically something I am asking at the individual class level but also across the entire course. The result of this question may be a short devotional that is closely or loosely linked to the topic of the day. It may be a story from my recent or distant past related to faith in the workplace or general discipleship. It may be a series of questions throughout the class that gets the students realizing that the Bible is a helpful source for business, management, and life.

I make an effort to use a combination of video, audio, discussions, stories from my past and current life experiences, etc. Sometimes I do a better job of striking the right balance. Other times I plow through too many Powerpoints on terms, and problems that quickly put students in a trance. I am learning though and I hope getting better and better each semester and even each week. If you have suggestions either because you are in my class or you have been down this road before me I am always willing to listen.

Journey to Bethel

Clearly God was involved in my journey to Bethel. Well actually it is now clear to me that He has been involved in my entire life journey. Of course, there were times when I may not have seen or admitted that. Read the full story here.
