BUS105 - Introduction to Technology and Applications
Course Description
To develop Information Technology knowledge and skill that is critical for success in business. Course materials, projects, and labs will equip students for the ability to leverage technology in the business environment. Students will develop and enhance their skills with business productivity software and develop a greater appreciation for information technology and its significance in various functional business areas (e.g. accounting, marketing, finance, human resources, etc.). In addition, students will develop a faith-based approach to making decisions around how to ethically use Information Technology.
Learner Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Understand and demonstrate a working knowledge of computer operations, hardware, software, and technical capabilities and limitations.
- Develop skills in navigating and leveraging the Internet for research, commerce, personal information management, and communications.
- Apply enhanced software utilization skills with applications used widely in business (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, Project, Access, and Dreamweaver).
- Evaluate the current and potential future impact of information technology issues and events on both profit and non-profit organizations.
- Identify the ethical and security issues associated with the use of technology in business.
- Develop an ability to think about technology and business from a Christian perspective.
