Minnesota Graduation Standards for Public School Students


As of May 2010, the State of Minnesota adopted the National Physical Education K-12 Standards (link below) as graduation requirements for Minnesota public school students. Nevertheless, the prior standards listed below by grade level provide additional direction for developing goals and activities. Select any given level for descriptions of Minnesota standards that once comprised that level.

Primary Content Standards: Primary level students meet standards in the area of personal health and fitness.

Intermediate Content Standards: Intermediate level students meet standards in the area of personal health and nutrition.

Middle-Level Content Standards: Middle-level students meet standards in the areas of personal health and physical education and fitness.

High School Content Standards: High school students meet standards in the areas of individual and community health, physical education and fitness, and either career investigation or occupational experience.
