About the Author

Steven Henkel received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught physical education four years in the public schools, and five years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Steve is a professor at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he has taught for 31 years, along with directing the teacher licensure program in physical education.

Passions of Professor Henkel include promoting motor skill development, character development, creative movement, self-esteem, and developmentally appropriate games for children and youth. He has led AWANA and Vacation Bible School programs in the local church, served as a resource for Christian home educators, and coached youth sports. Steve lives with his wife in Arden Hills, Minnesota, where they raised three sons.
