The alto part contains an apparent misprint in mm. 10-11. The Gs on beat four of m. 10 and beats one, two, and three of m. 11 clash uncharacteristically with the A flat chord outlined in this passage. Clashes frequently occur in the American repertoire but are generally formed by melodic choices. This clash occurs in a part that is clearly filling out the harmony and could very well have been the result of a printing error. Moving all of these notes up to A flat solves the problem. The following recording includes this change.
