Tune name: Canturbury (Low Dutch)
Composer: Unknown
Original source: J. Cosyn, Music of Six and Five Parts, 1585.
First American appearance: The Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs of the Old and New Testament (The Bay Psalm Book), Boston1698
Source of this image: The Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs (The Bay Psalm Book), Boston 1698
Note that the melody moves from line one to line three. Lines two and four are the bass part.
The MIDI recording: In order to reconcile the number of beats between the bass and melody in m. 3 I slurred beats 7 and 8 in the melody and changed the 7th beat (C) of the bass part to whole note. This alteration also works well with the text.
