the art and perception project
Purpose
The art and perception project has three primary aims.  First, the project is an opportunity for Sensation and Perception students from psychology, computer science and other fields to witness perceptual principles at work. Second, the project aims to connect art students with the larger principles they so frequently utilize in their own work.  Finally, the project presents us all with a wonderful opportunity to understand and appreciate the work of visionary artists that is present in the Twin Cities.

How?
The art and perception project is a product of the Sensation and Perception course at Bethel University.  Each student is asked to select a single work at a local museum or gallery and write a short essay on how the principles of perception were used by the artist (explicitly or implicitly). Each essay is edited and reproduced along with an image of the artist's original work.
